Chicago Transit Authority Chief to Speak at IIT

Frank Kruesi, president of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), speaks at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Tuesday, April 8, 2003, as part of the continuing “Thought Leaders” Seminars on the Main Campus. Kruesi's lecture takes place from 4-5 p.m. in Wishnick Hall Auditorium, 3255 S. Dearborn Street. A question and answer session will follow.

As head of the CTA, Kruesi is in charge of the nation’s second largest public transportation system serving the city of Chicago and 38 surrounding suburbs. CTA has about 1900 buses serving more than 130 routes at 12,000 bus stops and make about one million passenger trips every day. CTA’s 1,100 rapid transit rail cars run over 222 miles of track and serve 143 stations.

Kruesi has also served as the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy in the United States Department of Transportation, and as the Chief Policy Officer in the Administration of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. He has been a Lecturer in Political Science at Loyola University, DePaul University, and Rosary College. He received a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.A. from the University of Chicago.

The “Thought Leaders program is a yearlong series of lectures featuring prominent entrepreneurs and leaders, sponsored by IIT’s Ed Kaplan Entrepreneurial Studies program and the IIT Leadership Academy.
