Distinguished Professor Elie Geisler Retires After 20-Year Career at Stuart
Longtime Stuart School of Business professor Eliezer Geisler, who recently retired, was honored by faculty and staff colleagues at the school’s opening kick-off meeting of the 2019-20 academic year.
“Today, we come together to recognize not only a great career at the Stuart School, but also a productive life of service to the community,” Stuart Dean John Bilson said in his remarks at the event. “As a representative of the Stuart School, I would like to thank Elie for his active support of the school and the university during his long career with us.”
Geisler joined Stuart faculty in 1999 and was named Distinguished Professor of Organizational Behavior in 2007. His teaching included courses in Organizational Behavior, Healthcare Management, Leadership of Multicultural Organizations, and Media Strategy and Implementation, and he received a university award for creating an IPRO course in which students designed and implemented a monitoring home system for diabetes patients.
Bilson noted that Geisler was a pioneer in defining the field of management of medical technology and co-founded the International Journal of Healthcare Technology and Management. He has published over 100 articles in academic publications and is the author of numerous books, including the foundational work on The Management of Medical Technology.
Geisler received a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and M.B.A. in Finance and Organization from the L. Recanati Graduate School of Management, Tel Aviv University.
In addition to his academic work, Geisler has served on the board of Mount Sinai Hospital and Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago, and he has been the chair of the Board of the Committee on Professional Development and Quality of Medical Care.
