EJ Lee receives the APA’s 2017 Early Career Practice Award
Eun-Jeong Lee, associate professor of psychology and director of the counseling and rehabilitation science division in the Department of Psychology, was named a recipient of the 2017 Early Career Practice by Division 22 of the American Psychological Association.
Presented annually, the award recognizes individuals who, while still in the first 10 years since earning their doctorate, have made a significant contribution to the area of rehabilitation psychology. Lee accepted the award at the APA’s National Convention in Washington D.C. in August.
Lee’s work specializes in psychosocial adaptation to disability. Her research has focused on several areas including co-existing disability and mental health issues; positive psychology and wellness among people with chronic illness and disability (CID); issues facing family and caregivers of people with CID; multicultural issues related to help-seeking behavior; vocational rehabilitation; and research methodology.
Lee joined the Illinois Tech faculty in 2007 and became head of the counseling and rehabilitation science division in 2016. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the division offers the nationally-ranked Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling and the Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counseling Education. Both degree programs are accredited by the Counsel for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP).
