Financial Times Ranks Stuart Finance Among Top Programs in 2018 Nationally and Globally
Illinois Tech’s Stuart School of Business has again ranked among the world’s best institutions in the 2018 rankings of pre-experience master’s programs in finance, published in June 2018 by the Financial Times. Stuart School's Master of Science in Finance degree program is ranked 5th in the United States and 42nd globally.
The Financial Times Global Masters in Finance rankings are based on a survey of alumni who graduated three years prior, with criteria that emphasizes their salaries and career status. In 2017 the Stuart program was also ranked 42nd in the world and 5th in the U.S. The program has been ranked domestically in the top 10 since 2013 and is the only finance program in Illinois to be ranked.
“The M.S. Finance program at Stuart School of Business is known for its academic quality and industry relevance, and I could not be happier with the continued recognition in this prestigious ranking,” says John Bilson, M.S. Finance program director and John and Mae Calamos Stuart School of Business Dean Endowed Chair.
Bilson adds, “As a part of Illinois Tech, we share the university’s emphasis on applied, technical education, and our finance program benefits from Chicago’s status as a leading financial center. Students in the program are taught by industry experts who bring their career knowledge and understanding of today’s marketplace directly to the classroom.”
The M.S. Finance program was designed to train professionals for careers in financial markets. Core courses cover basic principles of valuation, portfolio management, and financial statement analysis. Students can customize their degrees by selecting from Stuart’s 12 industry-driven concentrations, including financial engineering, high-frequency finance, entrepreneurial finance, and risk management.
