GEIGER NAMED DEAN OF STUDENTS AT IIT
Doug Geiger has been appointed dean of students at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). University vice president for enrollment and student affairs, John Baworowsky, announced Geiger’s appointment today. Geiger joined the staff of IIT in 1993, working in a number of roles primarily in student life. Most recently he served as associate dean of students and director of residence life.
“Doug brings much experience, energy, and enthusiasm to this position,” Baworowsky said. “He has a strong track record of success at IIT, committed to always putting our students’ needs first.”
Within the IIT Department of Student Affairs, Geiger’s new responsibilities include supervising student discipline, student activities, the counseling center, health center and women’s center along with fraternities, sororities and student residence halls.
Geiger received a bachelor degree in mass communications and French from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He earned his masters degree in higher education administration at Michigan State University.
Founded in 1890, IIT is a Ph.D.-granting technological university awarding degrees in the sciences, mathematics and engineering, as well as architecture, psychology, design, business and law. IIT’s interprofessional, technology-focused curriculum prepares the university’s 6,200 students for leadership roles in an increasingly complex and culturally diverse global workplace.
