IIT and MSC Malaysia Announce Collaboration Agreement
Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Malaysia’s Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) will sign a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on developing information and communications technology (ICT) initiatives in Malaysia and the United States, at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 28th at the IIT Research Institute (IITRI), 10 W. 35th St., 10th floor, Chicago.
The collaboration between IIT and MDeC will include facilitating the development of ICT-based industries, services and technologies, implementing business collaborations and undertaking research projects with established companies in both countries. The two also agree to provide the relevant knowledge and services to help create ICT-based industry ecosystems by developing and implementing training programs for selected university personnel and entrepreneurs, and to develop and implement an IP commercialization and market access framework and related programs.
Dennis Roberson, vice provost for New Initiatives at IIT and member of the International Advisory Panel for MSC Malaysia, said, “We are very excited about this opportunity to work with Malaysia, advancing the entrepreneurial spirit and strengthening the relationships among our academic institutions.”
The IIT team includes Roberson as well as Nik Rokop, managing director of the Knapp Entrepreneurship Center, David Pistrui, director of entrepreneurship, and Bob Anderson, director of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer for the university. Roslan Bakri Zakaria, general manager for MDeC signed the MOU on behalf of CEO Dato' Badlisham Ghazali, Meor Kamal Azhar, Senior Manager, Technoprenuer Ecosystem and Izam Nawi Ghazali, Senior Executive, Technopreneur Development.
