Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is one of only four Illinois schools ranked among the top 100 for 2006 by U.S. News & World Report. IIT was once again named among the nation's best universities by the Princeton Review. Both publications rank IIT among the nation's best college values; schools which deliver the highest quality education at an affordable price.

The U.S. News & World Report America's Best Colleges 2006 lists IIT among the nation's top 100 engineering schools and as one of the top 50 schools offering the highest percentage of classes with 20 students or less.

The Princeton Review’s The Best 361 Colleges 2006 also highlights IIT's small class sizes and challenging, but focused curriculum, quoting a student who said: "It's tough, but it's tough with a point, and it makes you stronger every day."

"These rankings are a nice recognition. They reflect the quality of IIT's faculty and the value of our interprofessional academic approach designed to prepare students to lead in a world increasingly shaped by science and technology," said IIT Provost Allan Myerson.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings use a formula that weighs peer assessment from administrators at other schools, freshman retention, graduation rate faculty resources and financial considerations. The Princeton Review’s rankings are based on interviews with over 11,000 students nationwide.

Founded in 1890, IIT is a Ph.D.-granting technological university awarding degrees in the sciences, mathematics and engineering, as well as architecture, psychology, design, business and law. IIT’s interprofessional, technology-focused curriculum prepares the university’s 6,200 students for leadership roles in an increasingly complex and culturally diverse global workplace.
