IIT TO HOST COMPUTER AND NETWORK SECURITY WORKSHOP
Worried about being hacked? Tired of receiving viruses? Illinois Institute of Technology’s (IIT) Center for Professional Development and the Fox Valley Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) are doing something about it! The organizations are sponsoring a Computer and Network Security Workshop and Expo that brings together a powerful group of organizations including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Microsoft, Red Hat, Cisco Systems, Checkpoint, CompTIA, Computer Associates, Internet Security Systems (parent company of BlackICE Defender), ZoneLabs, Beyond IF Solutions, ICS Advantage, Encircle Software, Biometric Technology, Network Associates Inc., and IEEE.
The workshop will bring business, government and education together so that knowledgeable security practitioners and responsible executives from organizations such as computer and network technology providers and manufacturers, scientific laboratories, law enforcement, medicine, and legal organizations can discuss and share their security needs, problems, technologies, security systems, plans and much more.
Participants and representatives will demonstrate products and discuss topics such as: computer and network crime; computer and network law; enterprise security risks and solutions; anatomies of hacker attacks; identity solutions beyond passwords; security policies; new trends in identity and access management; security training, needs and implementations; and technology and risk assessment.
Sessions at the workshop will be organized based upon factors such as economic sector, organization interest, and technology. Each session will consist of a moderator and a panel of participants making short informal presentations, followed by extensive opportunity for discussion and additional contributions from the audience.
The workshop will be held Thursday, February 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Illinois Institute of Technology’s Rice Campus, 201 East Loop Road, Wheaton. The event is open to the public, but requires advance registration. A $35 fee ($20 for students), payable in advance, will cover continental breakfast, lunch and materials.
Space is limited, so reserve your seat by contacting Nilda Cinco at (630) 682-6035 or reif@iit.edu. Reservations and payment are due by Friday, February 20, 2004. For additional details, please visit http://www.cpd.iit.edu/securityworkshop.html
