The 21st century has heralded a new era in the generation and implementation of technologies in health care delivery worldwide. There are waves of innovations in genetics, biotechnology, and in better management of such and other medical technologies. The past four HCTM conferences have examined a variety of issues: how much technology is enough? What are the returns and benefits from medical technologies, and what are the applications and the organizational and other issues in cutting-edge technologies such as e-health. This conference occurs at an important juncture, when the future direction of research must be determined. To do so, trends and advances being made in the field of technology and its management in healthcare delivery must be identified. Based on analysis of these advance, what are the challenges and specific areas and topics that need further study. This conference will cover some of these areas and to find answers to some of these questions.
The conference will cover these important topics:
- Trends in the State of the Art on managing technology in healthcare delivery.
- Advances in the state of knowledge in management and applications of technology in healthcare delivery.
- Evaluation of where we stand and where we should be going in the management, application, implementation and assessment of clinical and administrative technologies in healthcare delivery.
- A Ph.D. track is designed for doctoral students at all stages of their dissertation who wish to have their dissertation (from the idea stage to the final draft) reviewed by experts from academia and industry and to receive constructive comments and suggestions.
