IIT’s Gorham Among Six New Regional Directors Named by Global Association of Risk Professionals
Chicago, IL — October 5, 2005 —
The 48,000+ member Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), the premier organization for risk managers worldwide, has announced Dr. Michael Gorham of Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) as Chicago Regional Director. GARP has also named new regional directors in Dallas, Philadelphia, Japan, Pakistan, and the Philippines.
Gorham is the Director of IIT’s Center for Financial Markets and is a member of the CBOE Futures Exchange Board of Directors, the NFA Business Conduct Committee, and the GARP Risk Review editorial board. Futures Trading Commission’s new Division of Market Oversight. He earlier served as the Director of Research and International Development at the Center for Law and Financial Markets at IIT. He started his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and went on to hold a number of positions at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Michael holds a PhD in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin, a master's degree in food and resource economics from the University of Florida, and a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Notre Dame. Gorham’s experience in the risk practitioner community and the academic arena presents another opportunity for GARP to unite these two important areas.
