Illinois Institute of Technology Hosts 24th Annual International Bridge Building Contest

Chicago, IL — April 24, 2001 —

The Illinois Institute of Technology will be hosting the 24th Annual International Bridge Building Contest on April 28, 2001. The contest welcomes the top two winners of regional bridge building contests that have taken place over the past several months in cities around the world.

About 70 contestants are expected from the United States, Canada and Indonesia. The contest will begin at 8:30 a.m. and run until 2:30 p.m.

Bridges will be gradually loaded with more weight until the break. The bridge that can hold the most weight that weighs 30 grams or less wins. The first place prize is a four-year ½ tuition scholarship ti the Illinois Institute of Technology.
