IPRO Projects Day

Date

Chicago, IL — April 25, 2005 —

Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) will hold its semiannual IPRO Projects Day on April 29, showcasing the work of students from engineering, science, humanities, business, architecture, psychology, law and design through presentations and exhibits. The event will be held at IIT’s Hermann Union Building located at 3241 S. Federal Street.

Over 30 teams are evaluated by a panel of professionals, faculty, and students. Among the projects featured: robotic design, hybrid vehicle design, automated transfer of shipping containers, non-invasive glucose monitoring for diabetics, projects to serve the needs of tsunami victims and relief organizations, and design and development of an on-line music distribution web site.

The IPRO program is shaped by the interactions of student teams, faculty advisers and sponsoring organizations, and is focused in the three primary areas of Teamwork, Problem-Solving, and Innovation and Action. Since its inception in 1995, the IPRO program has provided IIT students an educational experience that has a unique and unrivaled emphasis on interprofessional team projects. Students emerge from their IPRO-course experiences prepared to make early and substantive contributions in their chosen professions. Many organizations have benefited from their role in the IPRO experience as well—through interactions with our teams as sponsors or by hiring IIT graduates.

Founded in 1890, IIT is a Ph.D.-granting technological university awarding degrees in the sciences, mathematics and engineering, as well as architecture, psychology, design, business and law. IIT’s interprofessional, technology-focused curriculum prepares the university’s 6,200 students for leadership roles in an increasingly complex and culturally diverse global workplace.
