Mar Hicks's "Programmed Inequality" Wins American Historical Association Prize

Mar Hicks, an associate professor of history in the Department of Humanities, has won the Herbert Baxter Adams Prize from the American Historical Association for their book, Programmed Inequality: How Britain Discarded Women Technologists and Lost Its Edge in Computing (MIT Press, 2018).

The 2019 Herbert Baxter Adams Prize recognizes an author’s first book in European history from 1815 through the 20th century. It is "widely considered to be [one of the two] most prestigious prizes in the field of European history," according to the American Historical Association website.
