Men’s Tennis Aces Test, Earns Illinois Tech’s First NCAA Division III Tournament Berth
The regionally ranked Illinois Tech men’s tennis team won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament title on Sunday, May 5, clinching the university’s first NACC tournament title and becoming the first Illinois Tech team to reach a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III tournament.
Illinois Tech earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament by winning the NACC title, and found out Monday, May 6, where it will open tournament play. The Scarlet Hawks will compete in the St. Louis Regional at Washington University’s Tao Tennis Center in St. Louis. They’ll open tournament play against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the first round on Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m. The winner will move on to play host Washington University, which is ranked #7 in the nation, on Friday, May 10, at 11 a.m. The regional championship will be determined Saturday, May 11, at noon.

The Scarlet Hawks took care of business Sunday to earn the NACC title without losing a single match. They beat Edgewood (semifinals) and Concordia-Wisconsin (championship) by identical 5–0 scores at the Nielsen Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
