Students at Startup IIT Impact Edition Tackle Global Challenges

IIT Stuart students spent a Saturday finding solutions to global challenges during the StartupIIT Impact Edition event on May 2. Following a warm-up session with Sunny Shah, President of IIT CEO, student teams gathered to address various issues, including unreliable power in India, the lack of women in the IT industry, and challenges on college campuses such as difficult roommate relationships and healthy food choices.

Mentors included Steve Werner, co-founder of DAWGS, Inc., Andy Schultz, UX consultant and founder of several startups, Taylor Harvey, co-founder of Monkeybars, and Larry Katz, retired commodities trader. Nik Rokop, Industry Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship, provided the student teams with guidance on making an effective pitch prior to their presentations to the panel. Second place was awarded to meHungry, which included M.P.A. student Linxin Wen and Bharat Lavania (B.S.B.A. '12).
