Description/Problem StatementThe university needs a central place for monitoring the payment of graduate student awards and stipends that is visible to and accessible by all administrators involved in awarding funds and paying students. A new workflow system is needed to handle payments and reporting for graduate student awards, which includes grants, scholarships, stipends supporting tuition, and payroll.
Goals
  1. Develop new processes to accurately pay graduate students according to funding and regulatory requirements
  2. Build a system that:
    1. Implements our processes and adheres to deadlines (enrollment, payroll, etc.)
    2. Is accessible by all relevant departments
    3. Can report out on different aspects of the system
    4. Supports our business processes (e.g., a SSN application receipt allows a student to work; faculty can change certain aspects of awards within a defined timeframe)
  3. Create a documented process for interrelated departments’ roles within this process
