How It Works
Once you register for your Coursera PBA courses, you will be able to submit your official transcripts from previously attended institutions for course credit evaluation. Please note that Illinois Tech will not be able to evaluate your transcripts until all required documents are submitted.
All required documents must be submitted within 30 days prior to the start of your degree program. Failure to submit all required documents in time may result in a delay in course registration.
Requirements for Transcripts from U.S. Institutions
Request official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to ugaprocessing@iit.edu. If an electronic service is not available, then please mail your sealed official transcripts to:

Chicago, IL 60616- Upon receipt of your official transcripts, Illinois Tech will conduct a credit evaluation. Once the credit evaluation is complete, the credit will be posted in your AppTracker and DegreeWorks account.

Courses may be acceptable for transfer credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities provided they are comparable in scope and level to those offered at Illinois Tech, and the grades are the equivalent of a “C” or higher. Grades of “C-” are not acceptable for transferable course credit.
Requirements for International Institutions
Request official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to ugaprocessing@iit.edu. In cases where official transcripts are not issued in English, you must submit the official native language transcript along with a certified translated English version.

Chicago, IL 60616- Submit an official transfer credit evaluation. Illinois Tech accepts any NACES accredited translation. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Provide course descriptions of each course taken at each university. These should be combined into one PDF document and uploaded to your Application Tracker. Course descriptions must be submitted before you can receive a transfer credit evaluation.
- Upon receipt of your official transcripts, Illinois Tech will conduct a credit evaluation. Once the credit evaluation is complete, the credit will be posted in your AppTracker and DegreeWorks accounts.
- Once your credits are evaluated, you will receive a notification via email with next steps.
FAQ
Illinois Tech cannot evaluate course credit without an official transcript, and you will need to retake any required courses.
Upon successful completion of the Coursera pathway courses, you will receive conditional admission to Illinois Tech. However, you must complete core curriculum requirements prior to being fully admitted and taking your degree program courses.
If you do not currently meet core curriculum requirements, you have the following options:
- Take online courses available through our partner Outlier *recommended for those who are missing 15 credits or fewer
- Take courses at another accredited institution of your choice
Please note the tuition rate for courses outside of the Bachelor of Information Technology will differ depending on the institution you attend. Once you complete the core curriculum, you will be able to start the degree program at Illinois Tech.
Illinois Tech will evaluate your transcripts within two to four weeks once we receive all required documents after you register for Coursera courses. If you are unsure if your courses will transfer, we recommend searching for your previous institution on Transferology to view a list of transferable courses.
We recommend that you take the following courses in order to meet the core curriculum requirements prior to starting your degree program:
- Mathematics requirements: discrete mathematics and statistics (6 credit hours)
- Natural science and engineering requirements (10 credit hours)
- Lower-level humanities and social sciences (9 credit hours)
- Free or technical electives (36 credit hours of approved courses)
Free electives in the Bachelor of Information Technology program are any transferable college-level course in any subject/field. Transfer credit will not be awarded for remedial or developmental courses.
Illinois Tech awards transfer credit for meeting score requirements on the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). The CLEP examination is not allowed for courses in which the student has previously enrolled and must be completed before a student’s final 45 credit hours of enrollment at the university.
