As a student in the B.S. in Business Administration program, you may choose any Illinois Tech minor outside of Stuart School of Business as your specialization. The Human Resources Minor (specialization) prepares you to understand human behavior and effectiveness at work, to manage change and promote productivity, to cultivate effective leadership, and to use statistical modeling to inform data-based decisions. The curriculum covers critical human resource functions and includes courses such as Industrial Psychology, Social Psychology, Health and Safety, and Groups and Leadership at Work.

Human resources (HR) professionals are responsible for recruiting, training and development, and administering compensation and benefits for employees of businesses and organizations of all sizes, across all industries, in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. They are typically also responsible for organizational adherence to employment laws and, increasingly, designing and implementing diversity and inclusion plans. Job titles include HR director, manager, administrator, or specialist. HR professionals can also work as consultants providing specialized knowledge to clients.
According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay in 2022 for HR managers was $130,000 per year and the number of jobs for HR managers is projected to grow five percent from 2022 to 2032.
