As a student in the B.S. in Business Administration program, you may choose any Illinois Tech minor outside of Stuart School of Business as your specialization. The interdisciplinary Leadership Minor introduces core leadership principles and their practical application, which are skills that can help you be a productive leader and achieve goals at all levels of a business or organization.
This minor (specialization) draws from communications, psychology, and other fields to offer courses such as Persuasion, Intercultural Communication, Project Management, and Leadership and Ethics. Careers
In addition to developing skills that are valuable in every business career, the Leadership Minor (specialization) prepares you for positions such as management analyst and efficiency or operations specialist within companies, organizations, and government agencies, or to work as a management consultant in the consulting sector. Management analysts and consultants might focus their expertise in particular areas of organizational operations, such as finance or inventory control, or in specific industries.
Professionals in these roles advise management on how to make organizations more effective and efficient, such as by reducing costs and/or increasing revenues, streamlining operations, and improving organizational structure. These jobs typically include gathering information and analyzing data, preparing recommendations and reports, and evaluating the implementation and results of proposed improvements.
According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median wage for management analysts in 2022 was $95,290 per year and demand for management analysts is projected to grow 10 percent from 2022 to 2032, with especially strong demand in areas such as health care, information technology, and human resources.
