Illinois Tech is proud to partner with City Colleges of Chicago to create a seamless transfer path for City Colleges students to earn a Bachelor of Information Technology and Management with a specialization in security systems or a Bachelor of Computer Science at Illinois Tech through our guaranteed admission program and articulation agreement.
Illinois Tech offers guaranteed admission into the Bachelor of Information Technology and Management with a specialization in security systems program through our partnership with students enrolled in one of the following City Colleges academic programs:
- An associate in applied science in cybersecurity from City Colleges
- A basic certificate in cybersecurity, along with an advanced certificate in cybersecurity and an associate in arts degree from City Colleges
- A basic certificate in cybersecurity, along with an advanced certificate in cybersecurity and an associate in science degree from City Colleges
- An advanced certificate in cybersecurity including the successful completion of courses leading to an associate in art degree from City Colleges
- An advanced certificate in cybersecurity including the successful completion of courses leading to an associate in science degree from City Colleges
Illinois Tech offers guaranteed admission to the Bachelor of Computer Science program through our partnership with students enrolled in one of the following City Colleges academic programs:
- An Associate in Science from City Colleges of Chicago. Completion of the above pathway, aligning City Colleges courses with the suggested sequence from the Department of Computer Science at Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Computing, must take place within three years of the date of initial enrollment at City Colleges.
- A City Colleges student must earn a final grade of ‘B’ or higher in the CIS242 or CIS 244, and MATH 146 at City Colleges. classes and have at least a 3.0 graduation/cumulative GPA from City Colleges. If a student has a 2.75 GPA, they can be considered by submitting letters of recommendation from City Colleges professors. The admission decision will then be made in consultation with the Illinois Tech computer science faculty.

Guaranteed $25,000 City Colleges of Chicago Transfer Scholarship
Illinois Tech will guarantee the offer of a special transfer scholarship of $25,000 (prorated for part-time students) to students who are successfully admitted to Illinois Tech through the guaranteed admission program. This scholarship will automatically remain in effect each year until the student completes their undergraduate degree. The scholarship will be applied on a prorated basis for any summer term or in any semester that the student enrolls at part-time status. Students must maintain the minimum academic standards to continue receiving this award.
Dedicated Advisers and Mentors from Illinois Tech and City Colleges of Chicago
Students who take part in this program will receive individualized support from a transfer admission counselor at both schools. They will guide you through the transfer process and help you plan out your course selection at City Colleges and at Illinois Tech. Additionally, you’ll receive access to near-peer, academic, and career mentoring at both Illinois Tech and City Colleges.

Dual Enrollment Opportunity
Take information technology and management courses at Illinois Tech prior to transferring. Submit a non-degree application and your official college transcripts for the appropriate enrollment term. Be sure to discuss this with your City Colleges adviser.
Application Process
Students will be eligible for guaranteed admission to Illinois Tech once they fulfill the following requirements at City Colleges:
- Completion of one of the above pathways, aligning City Colleges courses with the suggested sequence from the Department of Information Technology and Management at Illinois Tech, must take place within three years of the date of initial enrollment at City Colleges for this program.
- To be eligible for admission to Illinois Tech under the program, a City Colleges student must earn a final grade of “B” or higher in all math, computer information systems, cybersecurity, and networking technologies courses taken at City Colleges, a 3.0 graduation/cumulative grade-point average from City Colleges, and at least a 3.0 GPA each semester that they are enrolled.
Once you have completed all requirements, submit a transfer application to Illinois Tech.
