The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) brings together concepts and skills from life sciences, physical sciences, medicine, and engineering in order to model physiological systems and solve medical problems.
As a leader in biomedical engineering research and education, Illinois Tech prepares students for leadership positions in some of today's most promising and challenging careers in industry, medicine, and research. Faculty research areas of expertise include: medical imaging; machine learning; molecular imaging; signal and image processing; cancer research; and neural prostheses.
Our BME students will gain the education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context. They will also obtain the ability to implement the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practices.
