Alumni play a crucial role in the future of Illinois Tech, especially as the pandemic limits internship and job opportunities for our students and recent graduates. Our success in this current moment depends on an energetic and engaged alumni base. To that end, the Career Services staff encourages alumni to bring their organizations or provide referrals to companies and organizations that would benefit from employing Illinois Tech students and alumni, or at least providing short-term experiential learning opportunities that expose Illinois Tech job seekers to their future industries.
In the current moment with its unique challenges, we offer the following opportunities to provide short-term opportunities to help our students:
- Post a short-term project, or micro-internship, either through Parker Dewey or on Handshake
- Share, via webinar, your professional experiences and tips for students to be successful in their job/internship searches
- Become a partner in the Elevate program
- Volunteer for a virtual résumé review session during the fall or spring semester
- Volunteer for a virtual mock interview session during the fall or spring semester
- Encourage your company to take part in an upcoming Career Fair
- Virtual Career Treks (company tours)
- Hire students for virtual semester-long internships and co-ops
If you are interested in taking part in any of the above activities that require logistical support from Career Services, please let us know by filling out our Alumni Virtual Professional Development Assistance form. If you have any questions about the opportunities listed, please contact us at careerservices@iit.edu.
