Alan Turing Institute Workshop Co-Organized by Illinois Tech Faculty Members
Two Illinois Institute of Technology faculty members are helping to organize an international workshop celebrating the 100th anniversary of publication of two landmark books in economics and probability theory.
Igor Cialenco, professor of applied mathematics, and Tomasz Bielecki, professor of applied mathematics, are members of the organizing committee for the workshop titled Uncertainty and Risk, hosted virtually by the United Kingdom’s Alan Turing Institute on March 17-19, 2021. The workshop pays tribute to the centenary of two monumental publications in economics and probability theory, namely Risk, Uncertainty, and Profitby Frank H. Knight and A Treatise on Probability by John Maynard Keynes. The fundamental views on uncertainty presented in both works has deeply influenced the development of economic and probability theory over the past century. They continue to resonate today, despite the ups and downs that the world economy is experiencing.
Free registration for Uncertainty and Risk is open to all, and mandatory. Register at https://www.turing.ac.uk/events/uncertainty-and-risk to receive a zoom-meeting link.
