Armour College of Engineering Announces Three Endowed Chairs for 2015

Armour College of Engineering appointed three faculty members to endowed chair positions in 2015. Illinois Institute of Technology invests distinguished faculty members with endowed chairs in recognition of their academic excellence and leadership. These faculty members advance the University’s mission through research, enhance student experience in the classroom, and help raise Illinois Tech’s visibility.

The John T. Rettaliata Endowed Chair was awarded in September to Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Hassan M. Nagib. Dr. Nagib has received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Illinois Tech and has also been honored as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, American Physical Society, and American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Professor of Metallurgical and Material Engineering, Philip Nash, was honored with the Charles and Lee Finkl Endowed Chair in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in October. Dr. Nash received his B.S. in Metallurgy from the City of London Polytechnic and Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of London.

The honor of Duchossois Leadership Professor was bestowed upon Eric Brey, Professor of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Brey received his B.S and M.Eng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville, Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, and NIH post-doctoral fellow, Department of Surgery, Loyola University Medical Center.

Each of these faculty members brings a distinguished teaching record and active engagement in scholarly innovation to their new position.
