Armour College Researchers Interviewed by ChicagoInno About Improving Artificial Pancreas Device With Wearables

Ali Cinar, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Director of the Engineering Center for Diabetes Research and Education at Armour College of Engineering, and his Ph.D. student Nicole Frantz, discussed with ChicagoInno their use of wearable devices to improve an ‘artificial pancreas’ for people with diabetes.

Dr. Cinar has been working on the project since 2013 when he was awarded a $2.48 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. Frantz joined in the fall of 2014 when she paired with Dr. Cinar as an undergraduate student through Armour R&D, a program where undergraduate students can gain experience working in the lab of a faculty mentor.
