BME’s Laboratory of Neuroprosthetic Research Mentioned in Popular Science Article on the Revolution in Bionics Research

Date

The Laboratory of Neuroprosthetic Research (LNPR), a part of Armour College of Engineering’s Department of Biomedical Engineering recently had their Implantable Myoelectric Sensor (IMES) System mentioned in Popular Science’s “Best of What’s New” under the health category. The device utilizes myoelectric sensors implanted into muscle tissue allowing the user to signal multiple movements in an artificial limb simultaneously. This enables the user to perform more delicate, lifelike movements with their prosthetics. The LNPR is directed by Philip R. Troyk, Associate Dean of Armour College of Engineering and Professor of Biomedical Engineering.
