CAEE Student Nicole Press’s Research Receives Nod From National Fire Protection Association
A report prepared by CAEE student Nicole Press as part of the Armour College of Engineering Program for Undergraduate Research In Engineering (PURE) was sited as reading material by the NFPA on its website.
The report, entitled Evaluating Occupant Load Density for Fire Risk, emanated directly from her ACE PURE research during the Spring 2013 semester. This research, which fell under the Security theme, was conducted under the auspices of faculty mentor and Assistant Professor of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Mehdi Modares.
Nicole’s research and subsequent report centered on technological and cultural influences on office space. Specifically, it focused on trends in occupant density with respect to building users and building construction.
Her report appeared on the NFPA website as part of a lager report complied by the Fire Protection Research Foundation (part of the NFPA) entitled Evaluating Occupant Load Factors For Business Operations.
