Career Opportunity: Hydrologist Position at EPA in Chicago
The EPA in Chicago, IL will be advertising a vacancy for a GS-1315-09 Student Trainee (Hydrologist) in the Land and Chemical Division. The position is full-time. Starting Salary: $52,516* (*Full Time will be offered.) The announcement, CI-R5-OT-2014-0005 will be open to the first 75 applicants from 6/30/2014 – 07/14/2014.
Who May Apply: Recent Graduates who have completed all course requirements for a qualifying bachelors, masters, professional, or doctorate, from a qualifying educational institution or technical education program within the preceding 2 years. The 2 years begins on the date all course requirements are met, rather than the graduation date. Preference eligible veterans unable to apply within 2 years of receiving their degree due to military service obligation may apply up to 6 years after degree or certification.
Duties & Responsibilities: Serve as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Corrective Action Project Manager responsible for planning, coordinating and managing the cleanup of industrial facilities undertaken by the responsible company. Review and evaluate the facility owner/operators workplans, investigations and studies for adequate identification and measurement of public health and environmental threats and appropriateness of proposed remedies. Provide technical advice to regional management and staff on changes in state programs related to geology/hydrogeology and groundwater. Perform necessary community engagement activities such as drafting newsletters and public notices, making presentations at public meetings and responding to questions and concerns raised by the public.
