Dr. M. Ellen Mitchell awarded Presidential Citation by APA

Dr. M. Ellen Mitchell, Ph.D., Interim Dean of the Lewis College of Human Sciences at IIT, has been awarded a Presidential Citation by the American Psychological Association for her leadership in mental health, groundbreaking scholarship and career-long service to the profession.

The citation reads in part, “Dr. Mitchell launched a new college of psychology, humanities and social sciences and has overseen operations for the Center of Ethics in the Professions, Disability Resource Center, IIT Leadership Academy, and Kedge Program. … She models ‘service with a smile’ and champions strong organizational governance and citizenship.”

The citation was presented at the Association’s annual meeting of the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology, which took place in Savannah, GA, February 28 - March 2, 2014.
