Electric Car Designed by ACE Students Generates Buzz at the Chicago Auto Show
The IIT Motorsports Team has brought their all-electric formula-style race car to display among the world's largest automakers at the annual Chicago Auto Show . With a top speed of 70 mph and torque that is double that of the 2014 Corvette, students know that the large automakers will take notice.
The school’s motorsports team comprises roughly 50 IIT students, primarily electrical and mechanical engineering students, who work from a small garage at the South Side campus.
The ambitious team is already devising plans to build a considerably lighter car and hopes to shave off a few ticks from its 0-60 mph time when they compete at the 2014 Formula Hybrid race.
IIT Students can get a discounted ticket to the Chicago Auto Show by bringing their student ID to the Office of Campus Life starting Monday, February 10, 2014.
