Humanities Celebrates Women's History Month
The Department of Humanities hosted its annual Women's History Month panel and luncheon on March 7 in the Hermann Hall Expo. This year's event theme was Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Nonviolence. The event featured an all-female panel of students representing countries around the globe.
The event was co-hosted by Lisa L. Montgomery, director of Academic Advising and Student Success, and the panel was moderated by alumna Tiana Morgan (EE '04). Panelists included Illinois Tech students Larissa Affolabi (CAEE graduate candidate), Basmala Ahmad (CS undergraduate), Austeja Staneviciute (BME undergraduate), and Lara Teagues (ITMG undergraduate).
The annual panel and luncheon features current students as panelists discussing a variety of issues pertinent to women. Topics range from the panelists' experiences as women at a tech school, to issues faced by women in the workplace, to systems, politics, and traditions in countries around the world and how they impact women's lives.
