IIT APICS Student Chapter Gets Active Start in Fall 2015
The IIT APICS Student Chapter started off the fall semester with a trip to the APICS National Conference in Las Vegas in early October. The Chapter sponsored a group of 12 INTM students, led by current IIT APICS Student Chapter President, Aniket Shetty. A few weeks later, a team of INTM students participated in the APICS -Chicago chapter case competition and won first place, for the sixth time in seven years.
The IIT teams faced challenges from Loyola, Governors State, and Northern Illinois Universities. The case was about “Fashion Faucet.” According to the APICS Chicago Chapter website, “Fashion Faucet, is focused on issues that most APICS members, and business in general are confronted by - Synthesizing information and observations into plans that support real-time execution and mid-to-long term improvement.” The students wrote a short paper outlining their proposed solution and two of the team members, Jino and Vanika, stood up and spoke about the team's solution in front of the judges. Several INTM Alumni attended the event at APICS’ Chicago headquarters to support the IIT team.
