Illinois Tech Ranked 8th on USA Today list of “Top 10 Engineering Colleges in the U.S"

Chicago, IL – Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) has been named among the “Top 10 Engineering Colleges in the United States” in USA Today. The national daily newspaper on August, 28, 2015 ranked Illinois Tech eighth on the list, which was derived from College Factual as a ranking of colleges based on each school’s overall quality.

Consecutively ranked and rising two places since last year, eighth ranked Illinois Tech is a university where engineering students report higher than average starting and mid-career salaries according to Payscale estimates. USA Today also recognized that IIT Armour College of Engineering “has a serious commitment to full-time teachers, smaller than average class sizes and a low student loan default rate.”

This USA Today ranking is the latest recognition of Illinois Tech’s elevated reputation in engineering education. In 2012, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) recognized Illinois Tech as having one of 29 programs in the nation that have successfully infused real world experiences into engineering undergraduate education. This year, U.S. News and World Report (USNWR) ranked Illinois Tech as one of its Best Value Schools. Distinctive education programs within IIT Armour College of Engineering emphasize the development of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary curricula and activities that will provide students with knowledge and opportunities to excel as innovators and tech entrepreneurs. Today, the total enrollment at Illinois Tech is 7,716 with 2,968 of those students being undergraduates. IIT Armour College of Engineering currently enrolls 1,506 undergraduate and 1,131 graduate students. The five core academic departments in IIT Armour College of Engineering offer 56 degree programs at the Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate levels in all engineering disciplines.
