Krieder Named One for the Future

Scott Krieder, a Ph.D. student working under Ioan Raicu, assistant professor of computer science, has been named as one of the winners of the Illinois Technology Foundation (ITF) 2013 "Fifty for the Future®" program.

ITF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fueling the technology workforce in Illinois. Their "Fifty For The Future®" program provides encouragement and recognition to students who pursue innovation through technology by providing a $1,000 scholarship and access to business leaders to showcase their talent. For the award, 50 graduate students and 10 high school students were chosen using a rigorous nomination and judging process. This year's award ceremony was November 12 at the Chicago Cultural Center and was attended by industry leaders, judges, winners and their families, foundation sponsors, academics and other supporters of the technology industry.

Krieder is a research assistant in the Data-Intensive Distributed Systems Laboratory and a Guest Graduate Student at Argonne National Laboratory. His research concerns improving the programmability and efficiency of hardware accelerators for use in distributed systems and high-performance computing.
