Date

Norman G. Lederman, distinguished professor of mathematics and science education, and Judith S. Lederman, associate professor and director of teacher education, are symposium leaders at the 11th Conference of the European Science Education Research Association (ESERA). The conference, “Engaging Learners for a Sustainable Future,” will convene in Helsinki, Finland, August 31-September 4, hosted by the University of Helsinki.

The symposium session, “The Key Elements of a Systematic Literature Review: A Symposium on the Handbook of Research on Science Education, Volume II (Lederman N. G. & Abell S. K., 2014),” organized by Norman Lederman, will provide emerging scholars with an opportunity to interact with established scholars and learn about state of the art findings in numerous lines of research.

Judith and Norman Lederman also will participate in a symposium organized by the National Association of Research in Science Teaching.

Current and former IIT mathematics and science education students Selina Bartels, Juan Jimenez Pavez, Allison Antink-Meyer, and Gary Holliday will present an additional five papers during the conference.

ESERA was formed in April 1995 to enhance the range and quality of research and research training in science education in Europe and to foster links between science education researchers in Europe and similar communities elsewhere in the world. www.esera2015.org
