MSED Math Scholars Presented at Research Council on Mathematics Learning Conference

Gorjana Popovic, senior lecturer, and Ph.D. students Ozgul Kartal and Susan Morrisey were selected to present “Urban Teachers’ Pedagogical Changes from Common Core Standards for Mathematics” at the Research Council on Mathematics Learning 42nd Annual Conference “Mathematics Curriculum: Paving the Road to Student Learning,” February 26-28, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

IIT’s session focused on observed changes in teacher instructional practices after a year of study. The MSED team worked with math teachers from a high school network that serves economically disadvantaged students. They provided intensive professional development, classroom observations and feedback during the 2014 academic year.

Founded in 1974, the Research Council on Mathematics Learning seeks to stimulate, generate, coordinate, and disseminate research efforts designed to understand and/or influence factors that affect mathematics learning.
