MSED Research and Scholarship Prominent at 2016 NARST International Conference

Norman G. Lederman, Distinguished Professor of Mathematics and Science Education, and Judith S. Lederman, associate professor and director of teacher education, are symposium leaders and presenters at the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) Annual International Conference. The conference, “Toward Equity and Justice: Many Different Voices, Cultures, and Languages in Science Education Research for Quality Science Learning and Teaching,” will take place from April 14 - April 17 in Baltimore.

The international symposium session, “How to Conduct Cross-culture Science Education Research,” brings together scholars from Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America to discuss how individuals are working across the globe on common research issues.

MSED Ph.D. students Selina Bartels, Jeanette Bartley, Dionysius Gnanakkan, Dawnne Lepretre, Yaozhen Pan, Juan Jimenez Pavez, Kelly Shepard, and David Santibanez Gomez, and MSED alumni Allison Antink, Gary Holliday, and Joy Kubarek, along with the Ledermans, will present 12 research papers and forums during the conference. NARST Board of Directors graduate student representative Selina Bartels and Judith Lederman will also conduct a graduate student forum to guide and encourage beginning researchers.

NARST is a worldwide organization of professionals committed to the improvement of science teaching and learning through research. The conference is the largest research meeting on science teaching and learning in the world.
