Popovic to Present at TODOS 2014 Conference

Gorjana Popovic, senior lecturer of mathematics and science education, was selected to present the paper and workshop “What Were They Thinking?” at TODOS 2014 Conference “Beyond Awareness—Equity, Access and Achievement for All”, June 26-28 in Chandler, Ariz.

Popovic’s workshop will explore how perceived deficits in ELL (English language learners) student mathematics are not always as they appear. A case of an ELL student’s work pertaining to the slope and triangle congruence will be shared, and possible explanations for such answers will be discussed.

TODOS: Mathematics for All is an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. TODOS was founded in 2003 by educators committed to equity in mathematics education. With over 700 members, their mission is to advocate for equity and high quality mathematics education for all students, in particular Latino students.
