Prof. Raicu Co-Chairs MTAGS11 and DataCloud-SC11 Workshops at Supercomputing 2011
Assistant Professor of Computer Science Ioan Raicu served as co-chair of the 4th ACM Workshop on Many-Task Computing on Grids and Supercomputers (MTAGS) 2011, along with Ian Foster (University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory) and Yong Zhao (University of Electronic Science and Technology of China). The workshop was part of the prestigious IEEE/ACM Supercomputing 2011 conference and took place on November 14 in Seattle WA. The workshop program attracted over 150 attendees and comprised a keynote talk by David Abramson (Monash University, Australia), a panel discussion featuring world-renowned researchers from academia and industry (Dan Reed, David Abramson, Jack Dongarra, and Daniel S. Katz), and 7 peer-reviewed research papers. For more information about the MTAGS11 workshop, visit http://datasys.cs.iit.edu/events/MTAGS11/.
Raicu was also co-chair of the 2nd ACM Workshop on Data Intensive Computing in the Clouds (DataCloud-SC11) 2011, along with Tevfik Kosar (University at Buffalo) and Roger Barga (Microsoft Research). The workshop was also part of the IEEE/ACM Supercomputing 2011 conference, and was also held on November 14. The workshop program attracted more than 200 attendees and consisted of a keynote talk by Geoffrey Fox (Indiana University) and 9 peer-reviewed research papers. Both workshops were sponsored by the IIT College of Science and Letters and the IIT Graduate College. The MTAGS workshop was also sponsored by the Computational Institute at University of Chicago. These sponsorships allowed the workshops to fund awards for best papers, gifts for the keynote speakers and panelists, and for prizes for attendees.
