State-of-the-Art Robert B. Kyts Design Studio and Machine Shop Provides Engineering Students With Fabrication and Rapid Prototyping Space
Armour College of Engineering students will now be able to create innovative solutions to pressing world problems by quickly turning their ideas into viable prototypes and products in a newly renovated space made possible by a generous $200,000 donation by Dr. Jadwiga Roguska-Kyts, M.D. who is pictured to the right with Ed Monser - Chair of Armour College of Engineering’s Board of Overseers and Natacha DePaola - Carol and Ed Kaplan Armour College Dean of Engineering.
The gift was made in the name of her late husband, Robert B. Kyts, an Armour alumnus and educator. It allowed for the renovation of the newly dedicated Robert B. Kyts Design Studio and Machine Shop and the equipping of the Interactive Learning and Fabrication Area in Room 141 of the newly dedicated John T. Rettaliata Engineering Center. This gift has ensured that Armour students have access to tools, equipment, and a workspace in a way never possible before.
The Robert B. Kyts Design Studio and Machine Shop will provide students–especially undergraduates–the ability to use state-of-the-art fabrication and rapid prototyping equipment that will facilitate the production of models made with many different materials. These spaces will support hands-on exploration and innovation within the engineering curriculum and help ensure that the Rettaliata Engineering Center remains the center of engineering activity at Armour College for decades.
