Undergraduate Student Svetlana Taylor Awarded First Place at WATERCON 2017
Armour College of Engineering undergraduate student, Svetlana Taylor (CHE 5th Year), was awarded first place poster presentation at the 2017 Illinois Section American Water Works Annual Conference and Expo, WATERCON. Her project, Designing and Modeling First- Flash Diverter for Rainwater Collection Using Superabsorbent Polymer Beads, detailed her efforts to develop a device that prevents the initial roof runoff from entering rainwater collection systems.
Taylor began her project during the spring of 2015 as part of the ENGR 497: Introduction to Research Methods class and continued it as part of the fall 2015 and spring 2016 Armour R&D Program. She was awarded $1000 and was invited to attend the National American Water Works Association Conference in Philadelphia in June.
