What is Banner
Banner is the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that Illinois Tech uses for human resources, financial aid, student records, and finance processes. IIT is operating on Banner v.9, modernizing our ERP system, delivering a new user-interface, and updating the technology used to develop administrative forms and self-service tools.
Banner Unified Digital Campus is Illinois Tech's administrative suite of student, financial aid, finance, human resources, and advancement systems. This solution is delivered from Ellucian and is a tightly integrated suite of proven, scalable, enterprise-wide applications on a single database, designed to support institutions of all types and sizes. Banner runs using an Oracle database protected by Banner Data Defense. The Banner Unified Digital Campus also allows administrative staff to streamline processes using Banner Document Management Suite (for digital imaging), Banner/Ellucian workflow, Ellucian Ethos for integrations, and Ellucian Analytics for reporting.

Who Manages Banner
The Office of Technology Services supports the maintenance of the Banner system. Various departments on campus are responsible for the use of the system:

Appropriate Functional Use
The use of the Banner system varies from department to department. Banner allows much of the application to be a "self service" tool that is available to students, faculty and staff. Banner is considered our official institutional system of record.
