Beyond serving to help provide educational opportunities and to boost economic development in Bronzeville and the surrounding communities, the Office of Community Affairs strives to help amplify the arts and culture in a neighborhood long synonymous with it in Chicago.
Through literary events, music festivals and concerts, and film screenings, our office endeavors to provide opportunities to enrich yourself, to highlight the talent in and around the South Side of Chicago, and to provide entertainment options for the community.
Literary Events
The Office of Community Events hosts a monthly book virtual book club on Zoom. Meeting for an hour and a half once a month, the club welcomes community members for a literary discussion.
In addition, the office regularly welcomes authors to discuss their books. Visit the Events page to learn more about upcoming author lectures.
Film Festivals
The Office of Community Affairs is a partner for two Chicago film festivals: the Chicago South Side Film Fest and Asian Pop-Up Cinema. Both film festivals use the Illinois Tech campus to host screenings of films.
Visit the film festival websites or the Community Affairs website for more information.
