Coursera Student Advising

Introduction

In order to support our Illinois Tech Coursera students, our Coursera program advisers will provide guidance as you progress through the program. Meet your adviser!

M.B.A. Program Adviser

Yumiko Saito

Yumiko Saito joined the Illinois Tech community as an academic adviser in September 2024. She provides academic advising support primarily to the Coursera M.B.A. students. She holds a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in counseling from the University of Arizona. She has a strong background in behavioral health and worked as a mental health therapist with a diverse range of clients, which enriches her ability to provide holistic support to students from diverse backgrounds. She also has experience as an academic adviser for undergraduate students prior to joining Illinois Tech. In addition, Yumiko’s personal journey as an international student herself allows her to become a better advocate for students from various backgrounds and enhance their experience at Illinois Tech.

Dennis King

Dennis brings nearly 20 years of experience in student support, supplemental instruction, program development, management and supervision in public higher education. In addition to his student success leadership and administrative responsibilities, his journey as a practitioner in higher education is steeped in promoting academic excellence and ensuring equitable educational opportunities. As the adviser for College of Computing programs (Bachelor of IT, Master of IT, and Master of Data Science), Dennis will work to ensure that all CoC learners are provided quality advising services as they journey to reach their academic, personal, and professional goals.

If you have questions about the Illinois Tech Coursera programs, you can attend online office hours. During office hours, Illinois Tech Coursera program advisers will answer your questions one-on-one via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Advisers can answer questions that take 15 minutes or less per student. For longer conversations, such as degree planning, we recommend making an individual appointment.

M.B.A. Program

College of Computing Programs:

Current Illinois Tech Coursera students can meet with the program adviser in a 30-minute individual appointment. 

You must contact your adviser using your Illinois Tech email account. You must send an email with your questions. Your academic adviser will respond to your email within 24–72 hours during business days.
